PRETTY PEOPLE PICTURES
PRETTY PEOPLE PICTURES is a film production company based out of Denver, Colorado. It was started by writer/director Jimmy Weber in March of 2007.
We like genre films (horror, sci-fi, action, westerns, film noirs, etc.) because they are fun to make and we hope this shows in the final product.
None of us have been making movies for very long, so we're still learning what it takes to make a good film. But stick with us so you can see how we improve from project to project.
ABOUT THIS SITE
PrettyPeoplePictures.com is not only the home for Pretty People Pictures productions, but it's a home for all things genre related. Genre films are born and bread from a community of unique people with eccentric interests and unending talent. This is a community that should be celebrated but is generally banished. But as James Gunn says, it's this abandonment that allows genre filmmakers and artists to do as they please with no restrictions.
This site will hopefully become a safe haven for the genre fans around the world. In the not too distant future, you find all forms of media available on this site. Whether it's short films, features, comics, podcasts, artwork, etc. PrettyPeoplePictures.com aims to be the go-to site for genre entertainment.
Jimmy Weber
As far back as Jimmy can remember, films have always been a part of his life and blah blah blah blah...
Don't you get sick and tired of reading that on filmmakers websites? I know I do. Think of it this way, do you really think there is a filmmaker on this planet who HASN'T been interested in movies his or her entire life. Now that would be interesting. Unfortunately that's not the case with me, but I'm not gonna get all poetic about it.
My love for movies began when I saw Terminator 2: Judgement Day at seven years old and since then my love for guns and genre flicks has never died. My mother is a big horror fan and raised me on a healthy diet of blood and guts. While most kids my age were seeing Anaconda and Space Jam, I was watching Rosemary's Baby and the Exorcist. It was awesome.
In high school, I was in a punk band where I befriended a homosexual zombie with the taste for flesh. He turned out to be kind of an asshole and murdered me and my friends in a movie. But my premature death gave me the chance to be on an indy film set and it was at that point I realized I had more fun making movies then I did being in a band.
A few years later, I went to film school. The classes were pretty awesome and the teachers were great, but my real education came from a book called REBEL WITHOUT A CREW. Like some crazy born again believer, that book changed my life and I knew I was never turning back. I didn't go rogue and quit school, but I did start making movies the way I wanted to. Instead of using "flags and skrims," I was running around with a borrowed wheelchair dolly and a couple 100 watt clip lights. But trust me, if you read that book, you would too.
My movies aren't the best pieces of art dedicated to film, but they are all made with a massive amount of love. My dad always says, "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life," and that's how I make my films. So as long as I have a bottle of blood, some prop weapons, and a camera, I'll never quit making movies and I'm sure somewhere along the line I'll start making some good ones.
Thanks for visiting and I sincerely hope you have a good time checking out the site - Jimmy Weber
P.S. - Maris the Great is actually NOT an asshole...but he DID murder me ;-)
