Crackle.com's Angel of Death

With out a doubt, the internet is changing the way we view media. From Hulu.com and Netflix's "Watch Instantly" feature, to downloading and renting movies using iTunes; televisions, DVDs, and even movie theatres are starting to look like a thing of the past.

Of course, nothing will ever replace the feeling you get when you watch a summer blockbuster up on the big screen with a crowd of strangers, or kicking back and watching your favorite show in the comfort of your own home. But as computers and televisions begin to merge, we are seeing more and more online content being generated from filmmakers across the world.

DR. HORRIBLE'S SING ALONG BLOG is hands down the best web series out there and has set the bar abnormally high for any web series after. Created by Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, and Firefly) to prove what writers were fighting for during the WGA strike a few years ago, DR. HORRIBLE was not only top quality but top ingenuity. It proved you can do things on the internet that you can't do anywhere else.

Since DR. HORRIBLE, I have had a hard time finding anything else that stands up to it's awesomness. That is until I stumbled upon CRACKLE.com's ANGEL OF DEATH. I already forget how I got to this site, but while I was on Crackle, I saw an ad that said, "Meet the woman who can kick your ass." I'm a big fan and supporter of strong female characters, so I was naturally interested, but then I saw it was ZOE BELL!

Being a Quentin Tarantino fan boy, I'm a HUGE fan of Zoe Bell. Badass stunt woman turned actor, Zoe Bell made DEATH PROOF worth sitting through the endless scenes of dialogue. What I love about her is that she doesn't have to "act" like a badass. Every other actress in Hollywood does. Sure, Angelina Jolie shot a lot of dudes in WANTED, but that ridiculous scowl she always has plastered on her face just proves she's trying too hard. But Zoe Bell doesn't need a scowl because she's real life, bona fide ass kicker.

I clicked on the ad and started watching the first episode. I immediately knew it was going to be awesome. By the third episode when Ted Raimi makes a cameo, I knew DR. HORRIBLE had found its disciple.

ANGEL OF DEATH was created and written by Ed Brubaker, a renowned comic book writer who brought the crime genre in comices back to life...and let me tell you...ANGEL OF DEATH is definitely a crime comic book. Although it isn't as stylish as SIN CITY or THE SPIRIT, ANGEL OF DEATH is the truest live action "comic" I have ever seen. It's pulpy, violent, and has a new twist and turn every 8-10 minutes. Every episode is funny, campy without being corny and has something totally crazy and unexpected happen. There is no telling how long a character will last before they are brutally murdered. And something so freaking awesome happens in the first episode I had to skip back to the beginning of the flash player just so I could watch it again.

When it comes to action webseries, this is the one to beat. I can't recommend it enough, that is why I am embedding the ENTIRE SERIES BELOW. Since it's being embedded from Crackle.com, all revenue from you watching will go to them. Let's hope with enough viewers, I'll be able to post a second season soon.
